Hollis Jennings / Skipper

At twenty-one, halfway through her first fishing season, Hollis Jennings knew she would have her own boat one day. Ambitious and determined, she worked her way up for the first six years while building strong friendships and making essential connections in the salmon (purse seining) fleet. While women on finishing boats are no longer a rarity, very few still dare to take on a captain's career - for buying a boat, and a fishing license is no small investment and a lifelong commitment. Fisher Women film follows Hollis and her predominantly female crew on one of the fishing trips during the endless days of the Alaskan summer months.

New Bohemia is a unique open-concept brewery where beer production and the busy taproom merge in a single space. It's always busy, loud and filled with the roaring laughter of locals and tourists. Joe Shouldice / Yes Crickets

In pursuit of a simpler and more balanced life, a successful Creative Director Joe Shouldice, a Canadian in his early 40s, gives up his career and moves with his wife and kids from New York City to Owen Sound, ON. After buying a house, Joe invests whatever is left of the money into a small cricket farm. He rents an industrial unit on the outskirts of town and starts experimenting. Insect farming is a rare and little documented endeavour. Joe is figuring out how to feed the crickets and raise them sustainably while trying to set up a distribution scheme.

What will happen to Joe, his family and his business in the first year? Will he stay afloat? Will this new burgeoning industry finally take off? Who will buy his crickets? And what will he do to conquer a much bigger issue of minimal human consumption at this point? Our team followed Joe for a year, documenting the development and growth of his unconventional entrepreneurial dream in an hour-long documentary.
