Annie Sakkab is Palestinian-Canadian born and raised in Jordan with a base in the Middle East. She is an independent photojournalist and filmmaker. With her work she seeks long-form narrative with a focus on identity, women’s issues, and social justice. Her long term project, ‘A Familiar Stranger,’ challenges contemporary western views and constructs of Middle Eastern women, and raises larger questions of how we perceive repression and freedom. Annie is a member of Boreal Collective and Women Photograph, and is represented by Middle East Images.
